Наприкінці 2025 року сербська літературна сцена поповнилася новою поетичною книжкою Ненада Йовановича — Злива очима землероба, що вийшла друком у белградському видавництві Arhipelag у серії Element. Вихід збірки привернув увагу критиків і читачів як черговий етап у творчості одного з найоригінальніших сучасних сербських поетів. Ненад Йованович, лауреат Дісової премії за сукупний поетичний доробок, залишається експериментатором, який поєднує інтелектуальну напругу з чуттєвою образністю. У новій книзі він продовжує працювати з універсальними темами, що виростають із приватного досвіду, водночас переосмислюючи сам механізм поетичного бачення та межу між образом і реальністю. Тексти збірки балансують між естетикою красивих форм і тривожними мотивами сучасності, зокрема роздумами про пізній капіталізм і стан світу. Поет і літературний критик Боян Маркович у своїх відгуках наголошує на внутрішній напрузі цієї поезії, де постійно перехрещуються контрасти — тепле й холодне, велике й мале, прекрасне й моторошне. За його словами, читач опиняється в просторі, де неможливо залишатися байдужим: емоційна й асоціативна сила віршів змушує реагувати навіть тоді, коли світ не палає. Злива очима землероба продовжує поетичну траєкторію Йовановича, чиї попередні книжки — від культових збірок «Фрезно», «Світ» і «XIX» до пізніших «Обличчя місця», «Дельфіни» та «Класи» — сформували впізнавану авторську мову. У 2020 році Arhipelag також видав його вибране Звичайність, а у 2022-му — збірку «Каїн і Аббот», «Авель і Костелло».
Ненад Йованович (нар. 1973) відомий не лише як поет, а й як прозаїк, драматург і сценарист. Упродовж багатьох років він викладає режисуру та сценарну майстерність у міжнародному академічному середовищі. Нині мешкає в Канаді та працює в США, зокрема в Університеті Дейтона.
Дісова премія — одна з найпрестижніших літературних відзнак Сербії, яку присуджують за визначний внесок у поезію сербською мовою. Премію засновано на честь поета-модерніста Владіслава Петковича Діса (1880–1917), одного з ключових авторів сербського символізму. Nenad Jovanović presents a new poetry collection, The Downpour Through the Eyes of a Farmer
At the end of 2025, the Serbian literary scene was enriched by a new poetry collection by Nenad Jovanović, The Downpour Through the Eyes of a Farmer, published in Belgrade by the Arhipelag publishing house in its Element series. The release drew the attention of critics and readers alike, marking another significant stage in the career of one of the most original contemporary Serbian poets. Nenad Jovanović, a recipient of the Dis Prize for lifetime achievement in poetry, remains an experimental writer who combines intellectual intensity with sensuous imagery. In his new book, he continues to explore universal themes rooted in personal experience, while simultaneously rethinking the very mechanics of poetic vision and the boundary between representation and reality. The poems balance an aesthetic of “beautiful forms” with the unsettling motifs of the present, including reflections on late capitalism and the state of the world. Poet and literary critic Bojan Marković highlights the internal tension that permeates this poetry, where contrasts constantly intersect — warm and cold, large and small, the beautiful and the terrifying. According to him, the reader enters a space where neutrality is impossible: the emotional and associative power of the verses compels engagement even when “the world is not on fire.” The Downpour Through the Eyes of a Farmer logically extends Jovanović’s poetic trajectory, shaped by earlier, now canonical collections such as Fresno, The World, and XIX, as well as later works including The Face of the Place, Dolphins, and Classes, all of which helped establish his distinctive poetic voice. In 2020, Arhipelag also published his selected poems under the title Ordinariness, followed in 2022 by the collection Cain and Abbott, Abel and Costello.
Nenad Jovanović (1973) is known not only as a poet, but also as a prose writer, playwright and screenwriter. For many years he has taught directing and screenwriting in international academic settings. He currently lives in Canada and works in the United States, including at the University of Dayton. Critics view the new collection as further confirmation of his ability to remain artistically relevant while continuing to deepen his poetic language in a rapidly changing cultural landscape.
The Dis Prize is one of Serbia’s most prestigious literary awards, presented for an outstanding contribution to poetry written in the Serbian language. The prize is named after the modernist poet Vladislav Petković Dis (1880–1917), a key figure of Serbian symbolism. Traditionally awarded for a poet’s overall body of work, the Dis Prize honours authors whose writing combines artistic innovation, linguistic expressiveness and lasting influence on contemporary literature.
