The film, which explores the mechanisms of Vladimir Putin’s power and was partly shot in Latvia, has sparked debate over the limits of cultural cooperation in wartime.

On April 29, 2025, the European Parliament in Brussels hosted the award ceremony for the LUX Audience Award. The winner was the animated film Flow by Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis — a Latvian-French-Belgian co-production.
