Все почалося з Розамунд Пайк. На поклоні після Inter Alia вона різко відчитала одного з глядачів за те, що він дістав телефон і листувався з кимось під час кульмінації вистави.

І The Times, і The Guardian, і The Telegraph — та взагалі кожне велике видання написало колонку з підтримкою чи засудженням актриси. А ось колеги з цеху підтримали зірку. Тому що це не єдиний випадок:

• Синтія Еріво зупинила спектакль «Дракула», коли помітила, що глядач її знімає.

• Ендрю Скотт, граючи Гамлета, зупинився просто посеред монологу «Бути чи не бути», бо один із глядачів сидів із ноутбуком.

• Бенедикт Камбербетч, який також виконував роль Гамлета, просив публіку не знімати його на сцені, говорячи, що постійні червоні вогники камер його «принижують» і вибивають із стану.

• У Royal Shakespeare Company жінку попросили залишити спектакль The Tempest після того, як її дитина кілька разів перервала постановку плачем.

Днями до дискусії підключився Стівен Менген. За його словами, деякі глядачі начебто не розуміють, що перебувають з акторами в одному приміщенні. «Якщо вони дістають телефон і починають переписуватись, ми це бачимо. Якщо вони нахиляються до друга і щось шепочуть, ми це чуємо», - сказав він журналістам The Times.

Він також згадав випадок під час бродвейського спектаклю: глядач у першому ряду поклав обидві ноги на сцену. «Ви ж не входите до офісу свого бухгалтера і не кладете ноги йому на стіл, — сказав він. — Загалом я скинув ці ноги зі сцени. На цьому все закінчилося».
